Daffodils, also known as jonquils, are a species of the genus Narcissus. However, some reserve the name jonquils for specific types of daffodils which have multiple, smaller blooms on each stem and are fragrant. Growing up, all I knew were the solid yellow daffodils. The American Daffodil Society now lists 14,771 cultivars, ranging in colors from all white to peach and two tones.
Along highway I-395, large patches of daffodils wave to passing motorists each spring. I settled for capturing the more accessible ones in Market Square.
Beautiful flowers! It’s really Spring now 🙂
Thanks for the info., Marie. These flowers look like they’re all in a row just waiting to greet me. Love it!
