Guess they’re not expecting any magazines or parcels. Ever. This box won’t hold much other than standard sized letters.

Thanks for the great photos! Old Town Alexandria adds so much to the rich flavor of the DC area. Thank you for giving us additional windows to the city we all love.
Greetings from Finland and very happy year 2007!
Your decoration photos are really interesting to look at.
They have been so capable people, who made all those things.
Best wishes Mimmu
Couldn’t you just role up the magaizine and insert the letters into the formed oval? What’s the scale on this thing?
It’s all bills and junk in any case!
Bah!
I guess its only for light reading. Great close up.
Hey again.
To explain my comment, as requested.
I meant that the only thing that finds its way into a (my) mailbox is bills (English term for when someone wants money from you for services) and junk, ie unsolicited mailshots for stairlifts, insurance, telephone services etc.
Sorry if I caused you any confusion.
Kit, thanks for stopping by.
Mimmu, happy new year and I hope you’re staying warm.
James, you take things way too seriously sometimes! 🙂
Mountainboy, bills means the same thing over here as across the pond. You’re right, the old mailbox has gotten to be more of a garbage can. Email me your address and I’ll send you a postcard, just so you’ll have something pleasant arrive. 🙂
What I find particularly amusing about this post is that we had the same mailbox when I was a child…only ours had 2 “arms” at the bottem to hold a rolled up newspaper or magazine.
