It never fails to delight me when I discover yet more evidence of how dog crazy people in this town are.
No snow in sight, so no white Christmas for Alexandria this year. We’ve been having unseasonably warm weather for the past several weeks. I’ve had my heat on only two days since November.

Marie, Have a very festive Christmas! Joyesux Noel and buona festa to you and your family, from me and mine here in rainy (but fine forecast for Christmas Day) Sydney.
Marie, I’ve been interested in yoour last few posts about the shops in King Street. Is this the main street, the main shopping area? If so, is it named after any particular King?
Our main street in South Shields is also called King Street.
Curly, yes King Street is the main artery in Old Town. I can only suppose that it was named after whatever King was in power when the town was founded.
In many towns on the U.S. east coast, you can find streets named King Street. Charleston, South Carolina, is one. I’m rather certain that Charleston was founded much later than Alexandria, but both have important downtown streets called King Street.
“Noël est là,
Ce joyeux Noël, des cadeaux plein les bras,
Qui réchauffe nos coeurs et apporte la joie,
Jour des plus beaux souvenirs,
Plus beau jour de l’année.”
Washington Irving
JOYEUX NOEL D’EVRY
“Christmas is there,
This Merry Christmas, gifts full arms,
Who heats our hearts and brings the joy,
Day of the most beautiful memories,
More beautiful day of the year.”
Washington Irving
Wishing you a merry Christmas and happy New Year from Hyde
