This was the result of my hunting trip last weekend to find a suitable Thanksgiving image: a display inside a retail gift shop.
Most Americans will be spending this day with family, eating turkey and having pumpkin pie for dessert. My parents passed away over a decade ago and my brother is in California, so no family get together for me. Instead, I will be enjoying my holiday with friends, having a nontraditional vegetarian meal with fruit pie — but not pumpkin — for dessert.
I’m always thankful when I spend time with friends, even more thankful when it’s someone else doing the cooking. Much safer to have me washing dishes afterwards. That’s something I can’t screw up. It’s always a thankful get together that doesn’t include family quarrels. No chance of that today. I’m in good health, so are my cats, I’m able to pay my bills and I have an invitation to spend time with friends where I don’t have to cook. I have plenty to be thankful for.
Whoever you’re with today, and whatever it is you’re eating, give thanks for what you have and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Great display, good message, and wonderful narrative, Marie. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too.
Superbe message et tres belle photo : Happy Thanksgiving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Happy Thanksgiving.

I echo your sentiments. I am off in a few moments to spend time with my daughter and her family and their extended family. I always enjoy time spent with those we love.
Oh yes, that vegetarian meal and fruit pie that the pumpkin pie-hating cook would have made had she not tripped a few days ago and encountered a sidewalk with her chin thereby rendering herself incapable of eating anything that isn’t soup or a purée of something. I promise a belated vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner as soon as I am able to chew again and eat grown-up food.
Happy Thanksgiving anyway!
Happy belated Thanksgiving day!
