the sound of sitar is magical! listening to it does give you that illusion which i think goes well with the “controlled substances”
Great shot! Sitar and Starbucks is a fine combination! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sitar being played before – the instrument is beautiful looking and sounding.
Wonderful portrait! Heard sitar music in India and it is different and delightful, isn’t it–with or without inhaling!
I don’t think I’ve seen a sitar yet…
Hey, a little self-disclosure in your post. Sitar music reminds me of happy times with friends too.
It’s quite rare to catch a competant sitar player, you are lucky!
wow, that’s an impressive looking sitar! I wouldn’t mind having one even though I don’t know how to play it ๐
I dunno, I reckon Dubya inhaled something! Not sure what though! Bill though, I reckon he was being imaginative with his language use….after all it turned out his definitions of various activities in the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll were, ummmm, flexible….
meant sex, drugs and rock’n’ roll group of activities….
Kris, shades of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band! ๐
Felicia, I wonder if in India they have coffeehouses with sitar players called Sitarbucks!
Kate, thank you! I’m trying to get better at people shots.
Anne, sure you have…just now! ๐
Annie, those were the haze…I mean, the days!
Curly, Santy, he was really good. I could have stayed there for hours listening to him.
Sally, I think the EPA is looking into what Dubya might have inhaled. ๐
No wonder this won “Best of Daily Photo.” He has a great face, expression, and the instrument is magnificent.
Marie, I do like and appreciate your effort at “people shots”. I am really enjoying the window at Alexandria’s daily life.
[…] Candid people shots are not really my strong suit, but I think I pulled this one off. When I played back the image immediately after taking it, I was totally happy with it but took a few more just in case. You never know, once you download the images to your computer and see them in a much larger format, if it’ll end up being as good as you hope. This was the first shot I took of sitar man, and it was the best for Alexandria Daily Photo for this week. P.S. The other shots of sitar man didn’t all stink, but he had his eyes closed in all of them. […]
Hi everybody, I’m the mystery ‘sitar man’ in the shot, I was surfing and found this
wonderful shot of myself in action at the Alexandria Arts Fest. A big Thanks to all
of the folks who came out to the festival. If anyone would like to check out my music
go to my website http://www.stephanmikes.com. Great Work, send me an email,i’d
might like to use the shot. P.S. Sorry, often when I get “in the zone” I play with my eyes
closed.
Namaste, Stephan
