Not Passante’s Mailbox

img_1284-small.jpg

Thought of Passante of Picturing Washington when I saw this, as she uses a butterfly as her avatar. On closer inspection, I was slightly disappointed to observe that the butterflies aren’t actually painted on the mailbox. It’s a metal mailbox slipcover. Chewing that one over awhile, it seems sensible, especially if the homeowner’s artistic talent is anywhere near the level of mine.

yes, great mailbox series, marie! I like this butterfly one.

Butterflies are great. Have you seen any boxes from Hawaii? Sorry I didn’t buy one when I was there.

Anne, sometimes I get lucky like this. It never occurred to me to do a mailbox series, but after the cat box, I started looking for them. This is the last one for this series, but I’ll probably do another one later.

Santy, thank you. I thought this butterfly one would be a hit.

Kate, no, what do Hawaiian mailboxes look like? I unfortunately receive my mail in a condo clusterbox, and there’s no personalizing possible…or allowed.

MarieMcC, you had done a wonderful series. This is great, you bring something very special about Alexandria.

  6. krisz says:

oh, that’s a lovely one! Reminds me of mariah carrey ;D but i do like it

  7. woow, those mailboxes are funny, here in my country we don’t use that. The letters are launched under the door or through a window.

    Greetings from Perú

If I lived in a house instead of on the 7th floor of a highrise, I’d clearly have to get one of those!

  9. mariemcc says:

Rudy, as always, you are very kind!

Kris, happily I don’t know enough about Mariah Carrey to make the connection. 🙂

Valery, we didn’t always have mailboxes, and the trend now is away from private mailboxes like these, as it takes so much time to deliver the mail. I think it would be fun to have mail sail through my window! 🙂

Passante, yeah, we condo dwellers have to conform. 😦

Re. Hawaiian mailboxes: I have a friend who is an Hawaiian aficionado of the islands, and after I get my new fancy-dancy camera I’ll take a picture and post it. There are, of course, many different designs, and hers is only one.
