If you don’t have a mortar and pestle to pound your fufu, here’s another option: powdered ignames. Tropiway Fufu Powder is made in Ghana. According to someone who knows his fufu, this is the best brand. Fufu can be made from ignames or manioc tubers, but most fufu lovers agree that igname fufu is best.

I thought I knew fufu but I guess I don’t! LOL! I have had it at the Boma buffet at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. They have all sorts of African foods and one of my favorites is fufu but theirs is not how you described it the other day. Their fufu was more like winter or butternut squash…it was the consistency of applesauce and you just ate it-no dipping or swallowing without chewing.
Jenni, that was easy! There are tons of West African immigrants over here. If I hear someone speaking with a West African accent or speaking in French, conversation comes easy. At the liquor store down the street, the cashier turned out to be Cameroonian, so he spoke French. He was amazed when I spoke to him in West African French. It’s a great icebreaker!
Natalie, that’s okay. You have other wonderful qualifications.
Carol, if it’s not made of igname or manioc, it’s not fufu! Winter squash sounds good, though.
Kaa, that’s one of the most fun things about Daily Photo. You learn things about people and cultures from all over the world. It’s very addicting!

She's passionate about Italy and knows how to wring the gusto out of every minute. Beautiful photos of Italy and an interesting travelogue at Melinda Trips.
I love that you were able to find “someone who knows his fufu’! š
I sure don’t qualify as someone who knows their fufu.
