I’ve Got the Whole World in My Neighborhood

Shopping at Fair Price Supermarket

Next door to a moving company in a mini-industrial zone, not far from the Mediterranean Bakery and even closer to my condo, is another fun ethnic grocery store. Fair Price Supermarket on Edsall Road specializes in Indian food. I’m the laziest cook in the world, so if I want to make anything that remotely resembles Indian cuisine, I come here for their tinned spice mixes.

More often than not, I’ll see customers like this one, who must feel very much at home shopping here. This lady was delighted that I admired her sari and permitted me the pleasure of taking her picture. This is what I enjoy about the West End.

    What a nice shot.

    Hi Marie
This is a great shot – and I like her sari, too. We have a lot of etnic stores in Copenhagen as well – and they have a lot of great products.

Passante and Kathrine, thank you! This is for me one of the pleasures of the West End. A lot of recent immigrants move to the area, and many still wear the traditional clothing of their home countries. It’s so nice to see.

I love spicy food and luckily we have some Asian shops here. Nice place and nice picture as well.

This is one thing I missed about living in the U.S., all those ethnic places and the access to as many different cultures as you want.
