Shine a Light on Me

Shine a Light on Me

It took me half a cup of ice cream before I noticed that the lampshades inside The Scoop ice cream parlor all have ice cream cones on their corners.

Humming again? There are a lot of songs with that line, but the one I had in mind was this one.

I got you updated on my blog.

It was fun to see how you presented your “self” portrait in your favorite place.

Annie, thank you for updating the link. I wanted to do something a little different for yesterday. Guess I wasn’t too original, as Chris in Newcastle had a similar photo!

Anne, yeah, I thought so, too! At first I was looking at the lamps thinking, okay, they have fruit lamps because a lot of their ice cream is fruit flavored. Then…finally…bingo! I saw the ice cream cones on them!

I’m impressed with your will power. Ice cream normally keeps my full attention … Actually, since starting my DP, I find myself noticing little thinks which I had overlooked in the past.

This shot is really nice. Did you choose your title from the lyrics of that Dylan song?

Many moons ago in college days I worked for a leaded shade maker in So. Cal. I did mainly office work/invoicing, but my duties also included bending glass fruit shapes on plaster molds in a kiln (to make them 3-D like), and also dipping the completed shades in a series of chemical vats (acid, sulpher, copper sulphate, nuetrilizer) to turn the metal over copper foil to an antique patina. We made lamps like these for restaurant chains. This is the first time I’ve seen an ice cream cone incorporated into a shade. Nicely done, too. I’m like Denton now that I’m blogging. My husband says I’m always in my right brain, the way I’m seeing things.

Oh, I should have read further. . .Midnight Special is one of my faves!

Denton, yeah, pretty much anything could be going on and I wouldn’t notice if ice cream is in front of me. That’s why it was literally one of those lightbulb moments that I noticed this detail at all! Hence, my caption. I agree, I’m looking at the world with DP eyes all the time now.

Kim, now you have me going. Which Dylan song? I used to be a DJ, and I remember song titles & artists, but this line plus Dylan is not computing in my head. I can’t think of a song he did with that line in it. But Creedence Clearwater, yeah, I bought that album!

Working with stained glass sounds interesting. The things we find out about each other from these posts! 🙂
