It’s the anniversary of the USA’s declaration of independence from England. This isn’t Betsy Ross sewing the flag, but it is the most appropriate shot I have for the occasion. After all, there is red, white and blue in the picture. (I know, it’s a stretch.)

Annie, it’s a traditional craft that’s a real chore! 🙂
Tanty, glad you like it. I find the lady’s expression very charming and soothing.
Sarah, I know it’s not a flag, I was joking about the Betsy Ross thing. A nine patch…you must be a quilter! Did you notice there is in fact a tiny American flag in the center of the quilt? I didn’t notice it myself until after I posted it.
Oops! I just looked at the photo in large size, and I was wrong about the tiny flag. I’m off to see the optician now! 🙂

She's passionate about Italy and knows how to wring the gusto out of every minute. Beautiful photos of Italy and an interesting travelogue at Melinda Trips.
No stretch at all – very nice photo of a lady dressed traditionally, doing traditional chores (or craft, depending upon your perspective).
Very lovely photo! I like it.
It isn’t a flag, it is a nine patch! Cool quilt, cool photo.
