City Hall Side Entrance

City Hall Side Entrance

I’ve shown you the back side to City Hall that used to be the front. Here is the beautiful side entry to City Hall with a gaslight replica.

TV news reporters this morning announced that the Alexandria waterfront area is on the verge of flooding. In past rainy years, the banks of the Potomac have overflowed several blocks up King Street. City Hall is on a mini-hill four blocks from the river, so all parking tickets and tax bills will be safe.

The front is now the side? That’s like in my hometown’s city all too. Such magnificence relegated to the side. What a pity. At least ours is safe from being destroyed for now because it’s on the hot list for “all-Amercian hometown city hall appeal”. Funny since we’re very Canadian LOL

No, the side is still the side. The front is now the back. If you follow the link in the post, you can see the beautiful former front entrance and find out how they reoriented the building by putting a public plaza in the back, effectively making the rear of the building the new “front.” It’s nowhere near as pretty, but you can’t fight City Hall. 🙂
