I love this picture. You know I love chihuahuas. One of mine gives me that squinty-eyed look -- usually when I'm calling her and she's saying (thinking), "I'm not coming."

Mine are "free-range" dogs, in the yard anyway, but when I have put a collar on them, they can somehow slip right out of them, so that's why lots of people use harnesses.

Awwww! They are only yappy when company comes.

Cute theme picture. I won't even attempt to spell that dog's name. I like your little photo description too.
Thanks marie for your very kind words on my last post. It was so nice of you.

Ah. What a thorough response. Thought the dog and the foot were yours, I thought it a tad odd since you have a cat avatar. I copied Chihuahua from Louz's post. I don't know dogs so I needed its type and spelling from a copy and paste session, although, do I misspell on your site often? Didn't realize it was a harnes, thought it was a sweater, or something. I'm seeing on the Dallas DP that they had snow, so I assumed it might be cold in VA. I think with "this breed has a tendency to be very yappy and annoying,"you discovered the original cause of its nickname.

Passante, I was wondering if I'd ever have a reason to post this. I'm glad this theme day came along.

Topple, yes it's nice living in a critter-loving town.

Kate, this shot doesn't accurately convey how very tiny that Chihuahua was. She was only a puppy of about six months old.

Louz, aha, not my sandal. Thank goodness she had clean feet, eh?

James:
And this isn't filled with drama?
It is? I just thought it was cute.
Is that your chihuahua?
Nope. Belongs to the owner of the sandal, a complete stranger.
What is 'she' wearing?...why?
Yes, it's a little unusual, isn't it? At first I thought it was a sweater, but on closer inspection I decided it was a harness. My hypothesis is that it is a kinder way to drag one's doggie along on a leash than choking them around the neck with a regular collar. This was a really tiny Chihuahua (and I'm quite impressed that you knew the proper spelling), a puppy of about six months old. So the harness was likely a much better option than a collar.
Quite a pained expression on her face...almost as if she knows she might be stepped on.
I agree completely. If you try to imagine yourself in her place, a tiny creature with humongous two-legged beings lumbering around towering over you, I think that's exactly right. She also appeared to me to be very tired, as it took everything she had to keep up with her long-legged human, who didn't want to pick her up and "spoil" her.
(Don't see many dogs over here, but that size is referred to as a "football dog." I don't want to guess the reasons.)
I can guess the reasons. Unfortunately, this breed has a tendency to be very yappy and annoying.
